Wastewater & Drinking Water Operator Training

JETCC publishes a schedule of certification training and continuing education courses each fall and spring for operators who work in Maine’s wastewater and drinking water treatment facilities. Training topics cover process control, laboratory analysis, infrastructure, maintenance and regulatory issues. Classes are offered remotely through the GoToTraining platform or in-person scheduled in locations throughout Maine. Training certificates are awarded to participants after successful completion of each session.

Maine’s certified wastewater treatment plant operators are required to obtain 18 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Wastewater treatment plant operator certification in Maine is attained after passing a state exam which is offered via Computer-Based Testing. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection oversees Maine’s Wastewater Operation Certification Program.

Unless noted, all classes listed are approved or pending approval for continuing education by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection wastewater treatment plant operator certification program. Many programs are approved by the Maine Board of Licensure of Water System Operators for Drinking Water Operator training. Increasingly, our contract programs and projects also meet the educational needs and qualifications of many professional certifications. Please call JETCC if you need clarification.
